The COVID-19 diaries: birthday
02/04/2020

My parents tell me that when they get back from their walk they look forward to seeing my comic… I hope they don’t mind that it’s about them! I had about three different ideas as to what to write this morning but I ended up writing this one because it was the freshest in my mind. Happy birthday, William! And happy birthday to all the other people who are celebrating in confinement and have to wait for their presents.

Back from our walk. We are both stars for the day, well I am just the side-kick star.

My wife took me to see a play at the Wellington Otago Medical School back in 2014 called “Hela”, performed by Adura Onashile

It’s a fascinating and very thought provoking story. Thanks for the reminder of that.
Sounds good! I really want to read the book now. I also hear there’s a documentary on Youtube – I should look for it.
Happy Birthday William! What a beard, you look like an aging hipster or perhaps a retired scientist. 72? That’s nothing. Keep them coming Sarah we need you to help us get through x
Haha I was thinking Hemingway. I will try and keep going! Thanks for your kind words, Barbara.
This made me laugh! Kind of sweet, too. X
This is a lovely story.
Hi Sarah. Super comic all the way and the frame that most amused me was the forehead one. The other day one of my friends hosted birthday drinks on zoom lying on the floor, waving her phone around and showing us carpet, belly, whatever. Sublimely unaware to the end. But think how many of us have become instantly capable at group stuff online in lockdown, all the while swearing they are hopeless at tech. I dunno. Humans ay?
Thank you! That sounds like funny zoom drinks
