Zine fest report
07/08/2012
Click here and here if you want to see some photos of Otto selling his zines. There’s also some pictures of our stand here and here.
Toby Morris, whose lovely book I got my hands on, is recording the first year of his son’s life here.
I wish I could find that interview where Jonathan Lethem extolls the virtues of working in a bookstore. But alas, I cannot. I’m sure he would have said something far more insightful than what I suggested.

$179 – that’s alright! Good work between the two of youse.
Woah! I hope that keen bean with the curly hair is a representation of me! If it is, I’m very touched because not only a) do I feature in one of your comics but b) you made me look fantastic!
Kelvin told me later that he felt a bit guilty not buying your stuff
Haha, I could tell it wasn’t really his cup of tea.
Nice work, both of you. I think maybe we should all work in bookstores, but I’d feel funny about recommending my own book. So I’d have to rely on all the other writers to sell it. And vice versa, I guess.
I bought your Boiled Egg theory comic, I love it! I wish I’d bought more of your zines now – I was in a rush to get back to my own stall so quickly bought the boiled egg and sheepy and didn’t browse properly. Do you have an online store? Enjoy the zine sneakers!
Thanks, Vanessa – I’m sorry I didn’t get over to your stall! I am planning on sorting out an online store, or maybe we could do a swap.
I’d love to do a swap, I will email you soon, rather than clutter up your comments with swap logistics!
I’m like the least generous bastard in your strip; I can’t remember where we first met but I think it might have been through Emma Martin. Right or wrong? – Bryce
Yep, that’s right – probably at Bessie or Eli’s birthday party.
