A trip to the café
23/12/2011
Aah, school holidays. I’m not cut out for this. But luckily Jonathan is home for a few weeks now to take the pressure off, and he just got Violet to pick me a bouquet of dandelions. I hope you guys have a great break over the Christmas/New Year season! I will probably have to draw a comic or two as some kind of therapy.

We went for sushi. sampson drank the soya sauce. You are speaking my lingo. The endless juggle, the Crumbs & Crap years, now combined with the Mucus Months. back to your Katherine Mansfield blog I always wanted to do a portrait shot of me as her in drag, like Ian McCullough did in the NME Xmas special one year. My fave line of hers is “It was soft as a dead kittens tongue”. She sounds like Raymond Chandler. it’s from Je Ne Parle Pas Francais. Thanks for all the great graphics and wit this year, merry xmas and happy hols – DG & whanau
When was Katherine Mansfield fondling a dead kitten’s tongue?! Research, I suppose. I definitely think you should do the portrait. They must have KM wigs at the costume shop. Merry xmas to you & your whanau too!
Oh boy, and it’s only week one of the hols! KIA KAHA!
Hilarity! Like a Buster Keaton film, except it’s not silent.
Deeply hilarious! Though tragic from your point of view!!
Particularly like the mopping up with the trousers – particularly as they are never absorbent enough and from memory you just end moving the pee around on the floor.
Have a great holiday sarah – and it’s always a good idea to take back-up with you when you take the kids passed the letterbox.

Brilliant 🙂 It’s a great reminder of why I rarely take three kids out solo, even just to the supermarket. Nothing is as simple as it seems like it should be! Hope you have an awesome Christmas and enjoy having an extra set of hands around – I’m so pleased my husband is off work now 🙂
Thanks, guys! In retrospect it was funny. At the time, well, let’s just say I’m glad the cafe is closing for the holidays so I am not tempted by another coffee soon.
Must be good coffee!
Merry Christmas – don’t crack up – do laugh!
Ha! This happens to me about three times a week (okay a day). I was just thinking I really should tell my good friend Catharyn about you and at that moment I read you saying, I don’t know Maybe it will be funny it retrospect, which is spooky cos her blog about parenting four kids is called Maybe funny in retrospect? (http://maybefunnyinretrospect.blogspot.com/). Anyway, like I’ve said I love your comics Sarah.
