Do you guys feel this way? Like every time you look at the news or Twitter or Facebook it feels like the world is on fire, and more terrible things are happening? And like it’s really hard to figure out ways to make it stop or to make things better? I took Gus off to the Wellington branch of the Women’s March on 21 January, but it was small in comparison to the international marches, and nobody seemed to know what we were protesting against. Still, it felt good to take part in an historic moment, even if the real historic moment happened the next day in another country.

ActionStation have very helpfully made a list of things we can do to help refugees – I’ve done number 1 and 2, which are quite easy.

Glad I’m not the only person who relocates wandering worms 🙂

… and then there was the classic comic ‘the fish John West reject’ (assuming you were subjected to the same ad campaign we had in Oz). I really like your final sentence, ” even if the real historic moment …”. It strikes me as a jumping off point for a new piece of work.

Yes! Good idea! And no, I don’t know that ad campaign. I am going off to google it

I wonder where my copy of the comic is? The tag line is “it’s the fish that John West rejects that makes John West the Best”. The comic shows a row of psychologically damaged fish sitting waiting outside a psychiatrist’s office.

Every little bit helps even if the main effect is on you

I feel this way exactly – and now am going to have to rethink my catch and release of flies!

That feeling of detachment from the ‘real’ world smacked me in the face at the March -as if here we are tottering towards the yesterday side of today. It would be great to do something big – and maybe reassuring your children is just that.
