Writers on Mondays and a nice review
06/08/2015
This is a snapshot of my journal – I have an office in town two days a week, and it’s situated dangerously close to the art supply store. On Tuesday I bought myself some new colour pencils (my collection has been swallowed up by the children) and today I bought myself a mechanical pencil so I can indulge in more architect fantasies and won’t have to live in a flurry of pencil shavings.
For those of you who are Wellington-based, I will be on a panel at Te Papa on Monday at 12pm. I am very excited because it will be with two people whose work I admire, Gregory O’Brien and the artist John Reynolds.
Also, today I saw this – a nice review of my Let Me Be Frank comics.

Hi Sarah
Nice blog, and even nicer review. He’s right about your work being strengthened by colour. And, my standard beef, the text needs to be a tad clearer.
My collection of LET ME BE FRANK is in serious need of being made more complete – your work is so popular that I lend (or they are pinched) from the house. All I have on the shelf among other NZ fiction, next to your novels, is No.4, Celebrity. I will be very happy to send you a cheque if you will send me any others that are still available. OK?
The memoir that we talked about that day over lunch with Ray Grover has been completed, submitted and marked. The two markers agreed enough to give me First Class Honours, which I think must have been a clerical error, but I’ll take it!
Hope all is well with you. Wonderful to hear of the office in town!
Hello Sarah
I went to Writers on Mondays today and lost myself in laughter and delight. My thanks to you, John and Gregory for immersing us in images and stories and warming a nippy Wellington day. I’m sure my colleagues appreciated a cheery officemate after lunch.
Regards
Jacqueline
Thank you, Jacqueline – I’m glad you enjoyed it!
