These are a few of my Favourite Things

A few months ago, Emma asked me to make a book for her husband Tom for his birthday present. I’ve never met Tom, but Emma sneakily quizzed him about his favourite things and then sent me some links to her flickr photo stream. I approve Tom’s favourite things. I like doing a lot of that stuff myself, even though I’ve never given much thought to the zombie apocalypse.

And in other news, I am STILL working with my editor on my book, and my latest Metro comic is now on the newsstands – the one with Morrissey in it! Of course my fantasy is that Morrissey will see it and get in touch and I will invite him over for dinner. Then he’ll be terribly disappointed in how dull-witted I am, and I will be taken aback by how different he is from the Morrissey I constructed in my head… but perhaps we’ll get on famously and he’ll invite me to his apartment in Rome and lend me his vespa so I can go touring the country side with my sketchbook.

What will actually happen is that Morrissey will fall desperately in love with you and he’ll persuade you to leave your husband and children and go and travel the world with him by bicycle. You will be sort after to sell the comic strips of this journey and be able to send lots of money back to your estranged husband and children which will soften the blow of your abandonment. Over time you will tire of Morrisseys depressive warbling and long for home. You will return to NZ to find that your husband has taken over the running of that drive through coffee place in Mt Albert and it will be finally worth visiting. You will reconcile and go back to writing about suburban Auckland life, fueled by good coffee. And this is your story.

Haha – that is SO what will happen.

Good stuff again! I must off to the NewWorld to check out the latest METRO.

The birthday-autobiog is a good one. Are you taking orders? My 82nd is looming (15 Jan 2013) and I’d love to have one I can send by email. I’d pay, of course. I have ideas, too.

And seeing I am talking about the future, in a couple of days I will be able to congratulate YOU on gaining a notable something. Yeah!

How does one go about ordering such a book, m’dear? I’m pretty certain that my husband needs one of these for his birthday next year (end of April). Could you please pop me an email if there’s a chance that this is do-able?
