Clueless, part 15

05/11/2012

This is part of a series: you can read the last installment here or you can start in the April archives.

I am conscious that there may be medical people out there reading this and I probably have stuff wrong. It was 9 years ago, and this is what I remember. There was a lot of detail that I had to leave out to tell the story in comic form, and probably some detail that I should have left out. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue this story on my blog, or whether I might put it aside for a while to revise and expand. I still haven’t told you what happened with my novel manuscript. If you’re desperate to find out what happens next in the birthing suite, the first story in my anthology, ‘Coming Up Roses’, is pretty autobiographical. It looks like you can buy it on Amazon too.

Oh, and if you were wondering what the song I was singing was, it’s this:

While I was giving birth to Gus, I had ‘Yellow Submarine’ as an earworm. And for Violet, it was Renee-Louise Carafice’s ‘House on Fire.’ Gus’s birth was the easiest, suffice to say.

Wah, that made me cry. At the time, Drew and I thought you were going to die, too. It seemed like you were in labour and hospital for such a long time. We were praying for you in our own buddhist/agnostic funny way. You’re amazing, Sarah! Love, Helen

Thanks, Helen xxx I suppose it seemed extreme at the time but we’ve both heard far more grizzly birth stories since!

Even though I know it was 9 years ago – I’m feeling like I want knit up some booties or something. I’ve laughed and cried – Does he have any eyes? has to be the weirdest question yet!.

I was genuinely worried about that! I figured there had to be something wrong.

You know it’s bad when PJ Harvey pops in your head….least you got to see your baby’s head when they handed you the mirror….

I love it how you birth a whole baby and Jonathan has trouble cutting the cord 🙂

It’s those blunt National Womens scissors – Kim had the same trouble when Tom was born two months later. I suspect the same pair. xo

Loving Clueless! Just read it from Part 1 to the end. By the way, part 14 is not tagged ‘pregnancy’ so when you click the pregnancy tag it does not show up in the list with the other parts.
