I thought I’d post one of my Metro comics so that if you were browsing at work, you didn’t have the potential embarrassment of having a picture of a Brazilian on your screen. You have to scroll down for that. Also, I thought I’d show you something else I was working on:
Do you know what that spells? You could look it up here.
Right, off to revise my novel for the 327th time. I’d better unplug my modem and hide it somewhere to curb my OCD internet habits. Did you know that Zadie Smith thanked Mac Freedom, a piece of web-limiting software, in the acknowledgements of her book? NW. It’s a great book. You should read that too.

‘Signal’. Now, what do I win?
First film I saw at the Civic was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when I was 11 with cousin Charles who sneaked us in without paying. I actually thought I was in the film, with that crazy faux interior! Scared the bejesus out of me…
haha, yes, it is very Indiana Jones! They probably served live monkeys and eyeballs at the opening banquet.
I’m oddly nostalgic for the old Wintergarden cinema at the Civic. But I don’t mean the fancy basement cabaret, I mean the 1970s-era cinema that was kind of built inside the cabaret space. That’s where I saw a lot of film festival screenings in the ’90s – and always the weird ones scheduled for the smaller cinema. Excuse me while I get nostalgic for uncomfortable 1970s nylon seats.
Also… signal! Intriguing!
Oh yeah, I went there too in the year that I lived in Auckland in the 90s. Now I feel nostalgic. And good decoding!
The second one looks more like C than I to me. 😦
thanks! I will fix that.
Now I want to see films at the Civic!
I don’t seem to have the internet compulsion that every other writer I know of has…I can go a whole week without remembering it….I’m worried there may be something wrong with me….
