When I was a kid – one of those shops was the toyshop – and it was so dark inside that there were candles in jars on the shelves – the owner was Mr Kemp & he had a giant creamy ZZ Top sort of beard. I bought 2 things from that shop – a shiny red covered book about Pinocchio and a wooden pencil case whose lid had a squeaky hinge and whose interior had the smell of a nana’s bits & bobs drawer. Heaven. Bliss.
Bring back Mr Kemp! Oh, and my nana had a drawer that smelt like lavender pouches and old spice and yardley and soap wrapped in waxed paper. It was for all the gifts she planned on re-gifting.
I’ve always wanted to have a shop, selling pretty things of some sort. With, of course, wine and beer…
I mean, coffee and beer!
Oh yes.. a place for reading/listening coffee/beer..
